Give My Regards to Broady

Give My Regards to Broady is a Broadway-style Musical set in contemporary Melbourne, Australia. It was written by Karin Muiznieks and James Simpson, with scriptwriting assistance from Dan Walmsley (creator of Planet Nerd). It premiered at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2008 and made it to number four on The Groggy Squirrel’s Reader’s Award.

"Broady" tells the story of four young music-theatre graduates trying to kick-start their careers. Karin and James share a house, and most of the action takes place in their kitchen and living room. Two friends hang out with them. They discuss the problems (Ticket Inspectors) and joys (AFL) of living in Melbourne and fight over the North/South of the river divide.

One song in the show was about Lavinia Nixon. The cast were invited to sing the song to Lavinia live on radio.

The show will be remounted with updated songs for the 2008 Fringe Festival.
